Mixer with a Purpose: L.E.A.P for Ghana Literacy Fundraiser

***Update ***

This is an additional update regarding Happy Hour specials during the event. There will be $4 -$6 drink specials and $5 - $8 food specials.

In addition, for donations provided for the fundraiser there will be gift bags and a silent auction...should be fun

The Goal of Mixer with a Purpose

Mixer with a Purpose is a way to introduce the group to the causes that our organizations jointly support throughout the year. This mixer is co-sponsored via the Outer Limits Program of Tim O. Productions and the Do Good initiative of Devlon Paris International.

It is an opportunity to meet other professionals and educators while also supporting and learning about fantastic opportunities locally and globally to assist our communities.

This mixer will be hosted by the Project Coordinator of LEAP for Ghana, Tracy Chiles McGhee and Two Time NAACP Image Award Nominee, Kwame Alexander.

We will also have recognition of our Meetup Group at the event in support of those members that are able to come to the event.

Happy Hour specials will be available and there will be a very short program by the Hosts to present more information about the organization and for special giveaways throughout the evening.

What is LEAP for Ghana?

LEAP for Ghana is a program that has been working with a school in the Konko Village to improve literacy among the students and to help them build a library. For the past two years, they have accomplished a bit more each time and even managed to provide a scholarship during the last visit.

This year, in addition to the school visit - the group of 20 writers, activists and educators that will travel to Ghana will also join with the Educator's Network in presenting the Global Literacy Summit in Accra, Ghana. This is an International conference aimed at providing professional development for Ghanian teachers, and discussing the global needs and strategies for educational success in our communities worldwide.

The Keynote Speaker for the Summit is Nikki Giovanni.

What is the Dress Code?

Business casual is an acceptable dress code. We do request no tennis shoes or athletic wear.

Do I have to Donate in Order to Attend?

You do not have to commit to a donation to attend. However, If you desire to donate, the organization will have information available at the event on how to do so.

At the very least it will be a great way to learn about the organization and many other ways that they could use support for their upcoming venture to the school and the literacy summit. In addition, there will be more information on local involvement with the Outer Limits Program for those that are interested. (click here for more information on the Outer Limits Program)
