Site Re-Construct Workshop and Potluck

DCEErs, get ready to up your game! Our first meetup of the new year is a site improvement workshop where we'll deconstruct an ExpressionEngine site build and share tips, tools and tricks on how to improve your approach to new projects.

We'll break into teams and review one "terrible" EE site. (No judgement, just love.) Groups can discuss what improvements would be best put into place from all aspects - control panel, add-ons, templating choices, you name it. Then, we'll re-group and each team will present their options on how to make this site great. Hopefully, we'll all come away with new ideas and different ways of thinking about the "ideal install."

Afterwards, we'll all enjoy a fun potluck lunch where we can continue the conversation. Special thanks to Canvas co-work for donating the space for what is sure to be a great event.

As this is truly a group effort, we're asking that all attendees please RSVP and contribute something to our lunch. So join Celebrit-ee Team Leaders Trevor Davis, Chris Monnat, Jeremy Congdon (and more) along with Celebrit-ee Chefs Trevor Davis (double duty!) Jessica D'Amico, Aisha Satterwhite for a coding and culinary extravaganza! See you there!

p.s. we're looking for site contributions for this event. Got a site you wish you could rebuild but don't know where to start? Get in touch with Jess and maybe we'll pick yours.

Really wonderful meetup. As a total novice I really appreciated all the time Jeremy took to explain the basics for me. Can't wait to start a site in this.

Had a great time breaking a site down and hearing how others approach projects, make decisions and choose tools. Lots of Q&A and ideas shared - plus yummy lunch and beer. Pretty great!

I've forgotten about the best parking options. Any suggestions? The time I came to the first event I got a $25 or $50 parking ticket.

Hi Sherri, most parking around Canvas is going to be 2 hr meters, which can also be renewed via iphone if you use the Parkmobile app. But, the best spot is a few blocks further west where New Hampshire heads south from Dupont Circle and parking is unmetered on the weekends… (kinda where NH, 20th and N all meet.) Shhh! This is a well-kept secret. :)

Welp, no one has said beer yet so...any requests? Also, how much would be appropriate?

Just picked up the keys to Canvas - and they have soda, water and some Coronas... so maybe something darker?

Here's a few ideas for easy travel or non-cooked options: a grain or bean salad, chips, beer, wine, soda or water.
