Let's get some good karma, make some new friends, enjoy a delicious meal and even get to take home a beautiful handmade bowl as a souvenir! At this Meetup, we'll attend the Empty Bowls dinner hosted by SOME (So Others Might Eat) and then afterwards visit the local coffee shop Northside Social Coffee and Wine for a private tour.

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation's capital. They help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness. Each day, SOME is restoring hope and dignity one person at a time. Let's join them in this amazing effort!!

SOME is hosting the Empty Bowls supper in collaboration with the Corcoran College of Art and Design and other area potters. Empty Bowls is an opportunity to raise awareness about the growing issue of hunger in Washington, DC, and to provide meals for the District’s hungry and homeless. Guests are invited to attend a simple soup supper (soup, bread, dessert) where they may choose and take home a beautiful hand-crafted bowl that will serve as a reminder of those whose bowls are empty. All proceeds from the event will help SOME continue to provide more than 1,000 meals each day to hungry and homeless District residents.

We will then head around the block to Northside Social Coffee and Wine, an independently owned coffee shop and an Arlington institution. One of their staff members will tell us about the history of Northside Social and its mission while we enjoy coffee, wine or sandwiches.

Will we be kept in the loop on the status of this dinner related to the upcoming snowstorm? If there are government closings on Wednesday, is there a chance this event will still happen Wednesday night? Thanks!
