Fall Harvest ⚜ Mt. Vernon Estate! Tour + Lunch

What better way to enjoy the fall season than with a visit and lunch at George Washington's Mt. Vernon Estate during Fall Harvest Days! Mt. Vernon Estates is the 500-acre historic home of George Washington, located 16 miles south of DC.
This will be our inaugural Meetup as a group! Everyone from any background can enjoy learning about early American heritage.
Before setting off on our autumn adventure, we will get to know one another briefly and share a little about ourselves! This should make the day more fun for everyone.
Then we will tour the estate, mansion, barns, farm animals, enjoy a wagon ride, wheat treading in the 16-sided barn, 18th-century dancing demonstrations, a straw bale maze, farrier (blacksmithing) demonstrations, apple-roasting, corn husk doll demonstrations and early-American games and music.
After a big day on the estate, we will enjoy a meal at the award-winning Mt. Vernon Inn Restaurant, serving early American cuisine.
The price for this Meetup is $20 per person, including admission to Mt. Vernon estate.
Lunch is not included and is optional. If you would like to attend the catered lunch, please let me know your meal selection in the comments and bring enough money to cover the meal plus a tip. There is also a food court nearby if you prefer that option.

Unlike most Meetup events, our events always will include a get-to-know-each-other session at the beginning as well.
This Meetup includes a 3-4 mile walk around Mt. Vernon estate. Please do not RSVP unless you are physically able to ENJOY a fairly strenuous day of walking around a big farm.
Carpool: We can meet at Huntington metro (this is the closest metro stop to Mt. Vernon) at 9:30 a.m. I will bring the first 3 people to ask in the comments with me. Also, feel free to arrange your own carpool in the comments below.

What a group...This was a really fantastic bunch of people! I had a great time running around Mt. Vernon estate with all you guys, but especially the WAGON RIDE was everything I had hoped for. :-)
We got super lucky with having such great weather today! I think all you guys brought good luck with you to this event. I hope to see you all again soon.

The Mount Vernon Estate is simply beautiful, and we didn't even manage to explore all of it, just the main house and a few other small things...the view of the Potomac is breathtaking.

It's starting to look like this is going to be a wet and wild weekend, thanks to Hurricane Sandy. Everyone might want to keep an eye on the weather, as there is a good chance we might be seeing the outer effects of a hurricane by Sunday, which would make our trip to the Mount Vernon Estate a very wet one, and not exactly a pleasant wet.

@Joshua: Fall Harvest Days are only held this weekend, so I can't postpone. Saturday is forecasted to be 10 degrees warmer and only a 20% chance of rain. I will re-schedule this for Saturday and refund anyone who has already paid and cannot come Saturday. Sorry for the inconvenience, everyone!
