A Day Trip to L'Enfant's Stone Quarry, Government Island
Saturday, July 13, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
$40 per person  Breakfast, lunch, and transportation are included.

The early federal government acquired this 18th-century sandstone
quarry-for stone used in the Capitol, White House, and other early
Washington buildings-on the advice of Pierre L'Enfant.  Join Jack Warren, Executive
Director of the Society of the Cinncinnati, for a presentation and bus trip to look at this
unusual historic site on the Potomac River in Stafford County, Va.

    Great trip to a fascinating place. That stone monolith in the middle of the Island reminded me of the opening scenes of "2001."
