The Bridge by Doug Marlette

September's selection, The Bridge,  is the first novel by Doug Marlette, who is well known to many of us for his Pulitzer Prize-winning comic strip Kudzu.  In this autobiographical novel, political cartoonist Pick Cantrell returns to his home in North Carolina after being fired.  Cantrell confronts his past and that of his matriarchal grandmother, Mama Lucy, uncovering her involvement in the bloody Great Textile Strike of 1934.

This will be my 1st meeting and looking forward to it. I love to read, everything from classics to current releases. I am a big fan of turn of the century (1900) authors.
