Fairland Tuesday

  • Apr 16, 2013 · 5:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This will probably end up being a weekly ride.

Please comment on what time you will be attending when you RSVP

Use the link below as a TOOL to match your skill level and fitness. The Levels are rated 1-5.
http://sacredrides.com/skill-and-fitness-ratings

About Fairland: 95% non-technical ride with few major climbs and no mandatory obstacles (they all have ride-arounds). Promise, no rocks. None! (there is one section of busted-up concrete, but it's not rocks, and it's only 10-15 feet long). Anyway, there are a couple good places to stop and practice log-overs, and balance on the boardwalks, and some good flow trails.

Intermediate Pace loop 5PM (Skill Level 4 / Fitness level between 2-3 (5 miles or so)

We will wait up at intersections, but most likely will start rolling when the last rider catches up. Fast paced, uphills kill me but I will do my best to get you guys a good run lol.

2nd Loop Beginner Friendly 6PM (Skill level between 2-3 / Fitness level 2-3 (about 7 miles or so)

A bit of a fast pace (will make stops at intersections if needed and short breaks). Beginners, 2nd loop shooting for wheels rolling at 6.

For directions: Google doesn't show the park well. The address above will not get you exactly where we are meeting. If you look at the map as a sat image, you'll see the main driveway, which doesn't show up in map view, Make a left at the end of the driveway, the parking lot is right there.

What to bring:

Plenty of water, helmet (no helmet no ride), your mtb of course!, multi-tool (although you can borrow mine), patch kit, extra tube (make sure it has the same valve you need for your wheel), a snack if you're doing both loops.

Note: Please read the document "Meetup Ride Waiver" (found under menu: More > Files > Meetup Ride Waiver) before attending this event. Mountain biking is an inherently dangerous sport, and by attending this ride, you acknowledge and have read, agree to and fully understand the aforementioned waiver.

This was a nice meetup! Good times. I recall a few of you guys mentioning that you'd be down for a morning Schaeffer ride. Unfortunately, I do not recall your names. I have suggested such a ride: http://www.meetup.com/dcmountainbiking/events/115795222/ RSVP if you are interested!

I came, I saw....I felt i didn't have the proper bike for trails. I have a Trek Hybrid bike that had more or less street tires. After seeing what the other guys had I felt inadequet for the task so I'm looking into getting a real mountain bike. BTW the paved path made me just as tired going up the hills. Perhaps there is a more wimpy group that traverses more flat terrain. Suggestions....

Wish I could this time. I have a gig at Blues Alley this night. If you're interested, come out after the ride ^_^.

I painted the house of the owner Blues Alley back in 1996, he had a bunch of old books . There was a biography on Lenny Bruce, best book I ever read.
