Fairland Follies MTB Race *Course Exploration*

A race is coming this 30th to Fairland! I wanted to explore the course, not sure if I'm racing yet, but I thought it'd be cool to explore the given course of the race. This may be a plus for anyone planning on racing!

Please be advised, this is not a training ride, just an overview of the course. I may even stop at a couple of unavoidable log overs that are in the course to practice. I will try to keep a pace in which I don't lose anyone who is new to the route we're taking, Fairland has many intersections in which is easy to wonder in the wrong way, at least in the route of this race.

I'll be parked by the bathrooms/basketball courts near the playground, look for a PEPPER WHITE (lol) Mini Cooper

It was a challenge. It was also fun. I would suggest we call it the "Follies" loop and make it a regular part of our ride. Maybe even the 5:30 loop. What say you?

Hey Kem, is it safe to assume that it is not a course exploration any more as the race is cancelled? Just wondering how many miles you want to cover and at what pace. Playing with the idea of giving my SS its first ride. Thanks

We will be doing the same course as the (cancelled) race, so I think it's still an exploration ride. pace will be slower intermediate than usual but will stop at intersections, specially for sections we don't normally do, we also will stop to practice a couple log overs.

Think I'm bailing on tomorrow's ride folks, both the bike and my leg apparently need some R&R after tonight's tumble... :-( oh well

I'm OK, tweaked my leg a bit, and I need to clean and pull the tire to check for tears, etc, just won't have time to get it done before tonight...

I tried doing a lap non-stop today, there were many blowdowns, and like I anticipated, 2 obstacles were difficult for me. Averaged 7mph and it was a tad bit wet. Here's the map of my GPS:

Sorry guys to cancel (again lol), I though the weather would cooperate, but it seemed that it was an unpredictable storm.

    June 13, 2013

  • Kem C.

There's a 60-70% chance of thunderstorms from 6-7, I think I will reschedule to next week :(... but can also do tomorrow if anyone is interested.

I have a rehearsal that night, sadly. If anyone's interested in seeing jazz legend Lee Konitz this weekend...that's what's going on.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
