Patapsco Lite

All the fun with half the calories (burned, that is).  A relatively informal romp from Rockburn Branch Park into Morning Choice Trail in Patapsco...and possibly beyond...  Slower than your average intermediate ride but more technically demanding than your average beginner ride, the vibe here will be pretty casual.

Ride Leaders: Brian

Numbers:(seven-o-tree...tree-too-tree...for-for-o-fife)

Please call me or post here if you suddenly can't make it or are running a few minutes late. Try to be ready to ride on time (good idea to get there 15 minutes early). If you've never been here, it's a good idea to get here even earlier so you're not late and stressed out.  We will try to accommodate everyone, but will leave the lot promptly 15 minutes after the listed time.

This will be a relatively easy average pace with some moderately technical terrain. Realistically evaluate your fitness and skill level.  We'll regroup at key spots and will break as needed.  Though this is a no-drop ride, be realistic, as there are some technical, rocky spots and lots of logs and roots.

Directions: Follow the above address.  Upon entering the park, go to almost the end of the lane and turn right at the steep uphill.  There should be a sign at the uphill for the skills park.  We'll gather by the skills park official sign at the top of the hill.

What to bring:

Helmet (no helmet, no ride)

Mountain Bike (hybrid bikes are usually sketchy on trails)

Water

Snack (salty will help avoid cramps)

Multi-Tool (although you can borrow one)

Patch Kit

Extra Tube

Note: Please read the document "Meetup Ride Waiver" (found under menu: More > Files > Meetup Ride Waiver) before attending this event. Mountain biking is an inherently dangerous sport, and by attending this ride, you acknowledge and have read, agree to and fully understand the aforementioned waiver.

Great ride, "muddy but fun" is the best way to put it, I hope to ride a dry trail some day this year lol

Wet and muddy trails but riding with the group made fun and surely worth it!

Just an FYI. I live only 1/2 mile away, and it is super wet out. Trails will be muddy.

The heat a seems to be drying stuff up. Here's to hoping the trails are doing the same!

If anyone lives by Rockburn Branch, would you please post here if the gates are open? I'll be tied up in the morning, and I'm trying to determine if things will be open for us at 2:00, provided the rain holds off. Thanks for any efforts you can make.

Yup. I just cut and pasted from my other threads. Better than typing it all out again.

I was in this exact area this morning. Rockburn Park was closed, and the trails were VERY muddy. Just FYI.

I guess my comments never made it to the meetup server. I have a surprise morning gig, so everything got moved. Sorry for the confusion and/or inconvenience.

You're lucky I was able to get another kitchen pass, changing the times up, come on now.
