(Ladies only-there is a 2nd ride right after this one that is for everyone!) This is an introductory ride to Patapsco. We will take a beginner's pace with more technical terrain.
• Ride Leader: Leah (fife-sevin-won)too-for-fife-fife-seex-too-oh
Please CALL if you are going to be late. I most likely won't be checking the meetup page right before the ride. I can wait up to 15 minutes but would prefer to start on time. If you've never been to Rockburn branch give yoursef a little extra time to find the place. The address should bring you directly to the park.
• Directions (Once in the park) Drive past the bathrooms and fields to the circle. Park before the circle. Look for a blue volkswagen. If there is no parking near the circle head up to the skills park and meet at the circle.
• PACE: (The MORE-MTB website description of our pace)Beginner/Casual:This is a very casual pace and completely beginner friendly. Someone who has little to no experience on a mountain bike should be able to stay with the group. Casual rides generally have many stops to allow everyone to rest as needed and to regroup. This is the pace often used for kids and beginner rides. The goal is to keep the group together and encourage / assist our new riders as needed. NO DROP RIDE.
• Description: We will start at the Rockburn branch trail and ride over to Morning choice in Patapsco. From there we will descend into a fun romp through some more challenging trails. For beginners or those who are shying away from riding in Patapsco- this is a good introductory ride.
Please keep in mind the terrain is a little more challenging. So bring a good attitude and patience. IF you are not a beginner rider but want to support our beginner rider ladies please come on out but understand this is not a fast paced ride.
****Stay for the second ride right after at 11:30, "Patapsco Lite"- A little more challenging, more logs and more miles but beginner friendly atmosphere! This ride is for everyone!*****
What to bring:
Dress in layers- It will probably be a little chilly in the morning.
Helmet (no helmet, no ride)
Mountain Bike (Hybrid bikes are usually sketchy on trails)
Snack (salty will help avoid cramps)
Multi-Tool (although you can borrow one)
A word on etiquette:
It's an issue that's come up recently, so give this a read:
Note: Please read the document "Meetup Ride Waiver" (found under menu: More > Files > Meetup Ride Waiver) before attending this event. Mountain biking is an inherently dangerous sport, and by attending this ride, you acknowledge and have read, agree to and fully understand the aforementioned waiver.
