Pataspco Lite For Everyone-Beginner Friendly

All the fun with half the calories. A relatively informal romp from Rockburn Branch Park into Morning Choice Trail in Patapsco...and possibly beyond... Slower than your average intermediate ride but more technically demanding than your average beginner ride, the vibe here will be pretty casual. Wanna go fast? Wrong ride. Want to work on some logovers? Bingo. We'll do around 50 of them.

This is a beginner friendly ride with a casual atmosphere.

Ride Leaders: Brian, Leah

Number: Brian (seven-o-tree...tree-too-tree...for-for-o-fife) Leah (fife-sevin-won) too-for-fife-fife-seex-too-oh

Please CALL if you suddenly can't make it or are running a few minutes late. Try to be ready to ride on time (good idea to get there 15 minutes early). If you've never been here, it's a good idea to get here even earlier so you're not late and stressed out. We will try to accommodate everyone, but will leave the lot promptly 15 minutes after the listed time.

This will be a relatively easy average pace with some technical terrain. This is a no-drop ride, but be patience and have a good attitude, as there are some technical, rocky spots and lots of logs and roots.

From MORE-MTB: Beginner/Casual:This is a very casual pace and completely beginner friendly. Someone who has little to no experience on a mountain bike should be able to stay with the group. Casual rides generally have many stops to allow everyone to rest as needed and to regroup. This is the pace often used for kids and beginner rides. The goal is to keep the group together and encourage / assist our new riders as needed. *Please note the terrain is not necessarily beginner friendly but completely doable. There are roots, logs streams but if you don't feel comfortable there are some ride-arounds or you can get off your bike. That is perfectly okay.*

Directions: Follow the above address. Upon entering the park, go to the end of the cul-de-sac and park. That's where we hit it. Look for a black Mazda or blue volkswagen.

What to bring:

Helmet (no helmet, no ride)

Mountain Bike (hybrid bikes are usually sketchy on trails)

Water

Snack (salty will help avoid cramps)

Multi-Tool (although you can borrow one)

Patch Kit

Extra Tube

**Food suggestion for afterwards:
Dimitri's International Grille
2205 Frederick Road
Catonsville, MD 21228

My first, but not last Meetup. Very enjoyable ride. Lead as advertised, casual and beginner friendly. I have found this to be rare in area bike rides.

Way to go. Hope to see you next week.

I've never ridden with a group this big, but it was a blast. I definitely need to make it up to Patapsco more often, as there is a bunch of terrain I have yet to ride. And if anyone needs a sweep for beginner rides, just let me know, I'm more than willing to lend a hand.

Thanks for everyone's patience today with mechanicals, organization, etc. Hope everyone enjoyed it. Be on the lookout for some beginner-oriented action next week, and maybe an introduction to night-riding in two weeks.

Also, I added a video in the description. We may not do all of those, so don't worry. Besides, they're all walkable.
