Wednesdays @ Wakefield #3

PVC Wednesdays @ Wakefield Series
This year’s 14th Annual Wednesdays-at-Wakefield (W@W) Mountain Bike Racing Series is here and hopes to honor the tradition of the past twelve years by providing our unique racing opportunity during the middle of the week! The W@W Cross-Country (XC) multi-lap course (that borders on being a super-sized short track) takes riders through Wakefield Park in what it expected to be our biggest event yet!

Trips for Kids Support
15% of Race Proceeds will be donated to Trips for Kids!

The 2014 W@W Series schedule includes the following dates:
W@W Race #1 — Wednesday, June 18, 2014
W@W Race #2 — Wednesday, June 25, 2014
W@W Race #3 — Wednesday, July 02, 2014
W@W Race #4 — Wednesday, July 09, 2014

The rain days for 2014 (hopefully we don’t have to use these) includes the following dates:
W@W Rain Day #1 — Wednesday, July 16, 2014
W@W Rain Day #2 — Wednesday, July 23, 2014

Race Day Registration will be located near end of the gravel road adjacent to the I-495 Wakefield-to-Ravensworth walking bridge. Please be there early to register due to registration ends 15-minutes prior to the start of each race. Race day registration is $20.00 (Juniors $5.00). We require you to fill out a USA Cycling Rider Release form during EACH race (even if you filled it out before, you need to do it EACH time). To save time, please bring a completed copy of your USA Cycling Rider Release Form electronically and bring it to registration to speed things up!

Course Details
The race course will be run at the northern area of the park with the Starting Line is located at the bottom of the gravel hill near the sub-station, and the Finish Line located at the top of the gravel hill near registration. The course has been modified to include the switchback climbs and downhill berms at the center of the park. Racers in the 5:30PM race (Juniors) will not be doing the powerline climb or berm descent part of the course.

Podium Details
Prizes are awarded to top 3 in each category with Series medals awarded at last race to top 3 in each category. Experts will receive cash — 50% of expert men’s gate and 100% of expert women’s gate — back in cash. Additionally, racers must have two race finishes in a given category to be eligible for series medals.

Despite the chance of rain, should have great traction for the race. It's hot enough out there to just about melt your tires right off your bike!
