UPDATE 1: Jeremy and I went to Georgetown to confirm some things with the management of our stops. After a bit of smoozing we were able to wave the entrance fee at Modern, yes free entry at all stops! Only catch is that you have to be with the group! So plan accordingly to arrive on time. Those meeting up after Kats birthday have to be at the entrance to the Saloun when the rest of us get there from Champions...cool?. ALSO, As I stated, the first spot is down an alley. Go up Wisconsin from M St and its 30 ft up on the left. You will see the entrance at the end.. If you get lost, give me a buzz ([masked]). Remember, it takes time to get to Georgetown and find parking or a shuttle from the metro, PLAN ACCORDINGLY. OK looks like well have a good group. Im expecting a few more to join us so take it easy tonight ok!.

Wow, been quite some time since we had a pub crawl. With that in mind we decided to try an area with a well established night-life while being in a quintessential neighborhood of the DC metro area. For our 9th night out we'll be going to three unique spots in Georgetown. For those new to the area or that spend little time in Georgetown I think you will be surprised to know that it is more than just a shopping destination with a few student stuffed bars.

Georgetown was first established as a permanent settlement primarily based on it being the furthest point upstream on the Potomac River that was navigable by boat. There is a conflicting view as to the naming of the settlement. One view is that it was named after King George II, being the reigning monarch at the time in Great Brittan, or that its founders were George Beall and George Gordon. In either case well get to enjoy this part of the city with a little pre-holiday cheer. And as bonus we will be combining events with one of our very own, who celebrates a birthday that night in Georgetown!

Our first spot is a newly renovated bar just off the main intersection of M and Wisconsin. Please make note that the entrance is down an alley and is a bit unassuming at first glance. To get there you will have to walk up Wisconsin from M street about 30 feet and look for an alley just to your left. The entrance is at the end up the stairs. Once inside you’ll see that this is a great spot replete with two floors(some of which bing glass), wide open spaces and an interesting staff. We will be on the lower level at the back of the bar. The staff will be informed where to direct you.

The next stop is a Georgetown establishment known as the Saloun (yes with a u). It is a festive place that will have a live band, that I’m told is quite good. The manager there offered free entry for our group and drink specials.... why not?

Our last stop will be Modern Lounge. It is a pretty swank place that gets rolling a little later in the night. Take a look at the pictures on the link.

In all I think it will be a great night and a nice way to celebrate the coming holiday season. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and new members. Stay tuned for updates as the night approaches.

"Da men" will be there Sandra, although, as with most of our events, there will be more gals than guys. Funny, I never hear any complaints from the guys. :-) To answer Sam's question in the rsvp list...Modern does have a dress code on Saturday nights, but it's not strict. I'd suggest no sneakers and casual clothes. Jeans are fine.

Should those of us that are meeting up with the pub crawl while we're out celebrating w/ Kat RSVP here, or should we just show up?
