Courthouse is a transit-oriented neighborhood in Arlington County, Virginia. It is home to the Court House stop on the Orange Line of the Washington Metro.
Although Arlington is so geographically small that it does not have component towns or cities, the Courthouse neighborhood is sometimes referred to as county seat, as it is home to the primary county government administrative complex as well as a justice center consisting of a jail, courthouse and police HQ. Indeed, the neighborhood gets its name from the governmental uses that call it home.
The neighborhoods consists of high-rise residential and business buildings including offices of washingtonpost.com, Verizon and an 8-screen AMC movie theater. It is home to more than 25 bars and restaurants, ranging from informal lunch take-out spots, to a venue for local bands, to upscale Latin and Thai evening establishments.
Our first stop will be Sushi Rock - Sushi Rock is the next creation in the concept efforts of Public Group and SET Entertainment. It is the result of an effort to build and demonstrate the connection between dining and a nightlife experience. Their thought is that nightlife is not simply about drinking and dancing, it is very much about the ability to share time, experiences, and oneself with friends, family and neighbors. Starting with the d?cor, Sushi Rock is a modern, up to date, take on two things that just about everyone seems to enjoy in their lives; fun music and sharing food together. Rock-n-Roll, loosely defined, has been one of the music genres that seems to inspire coming together and having a great time. It moves people and provides opportunities to create lasting memories to be shared with friends and family. Sushi in much the same way has been a food that seems to invite sharing.
Second stop is Ireland's Four Courts - back up the street, and across from the Metro stop, Four Courts is named after the Four Courts in Ireland where the High Court has resided on the banks of the River Liffey in Dublin for over 200 years. The lavish dark wood, cozy fireplace areas and friendly faces will carry you to another time. We'll have a couple pints of Plain (Guinness for you that don't speak Irish), sit back, relax and enjoy your mini-stop in Ireland. Greg is buying a beer for anyone that has plate of Haggas.
Our last stop will be a couple steps from the 2nd venue, Gua-Rapo. A sleek lounge with international flair, hookah pipes on the first-floor and the only place in town that offers Guarapo cocktails, a sugar cane syrup mixed deliciously with vodka and lime juice. We worked our magic, and in addition to jumping the line and no cover, the manager will be reserving a bunch of couches for us in the up-stairs club area for us to get our drink on.
See you Saturday for what should be a great night.
Quick Straw Poll - The organizers have been getting a lot of requests to take a trip somewhere for a pub crawl. Think about it and let us know Saturday if one of the following interests you: Atlantic City, New York or Baltimore?
Metro: Courthouse, off the orange line
Reminder: Due to the extremely limited number of RSVP's available on this outing, please RSVP only if you plan to come out. Likewise, if things change, please un-RSVP. Also, while we love meeting new faces, everyone is strongly encouraged to RSVP through the web site or be a guest of a member. The cover is waived for our group and the first thing most venues want is our RSVP list. Please remember to get to the first venue early enough to mingle, and certainly early enough to join us as we move on to the second venue. If you can?t make it, PLEASE modify your RSVP. If you don?t show, you are taking that spot away from someone else. ALL MAYBES WILL BE MOVED TO NO's THE DAY BEFORE OUR OUTING.
Disclaimer: Keep in mind your organizers reserve the right to omit, change, or substitute venues as seen fit depending on the group dynamics, scheduling, and available space. The pub crawl officially ends around midnight but we?re sure most of us will be out well past that. Yes, it's perfectly fine if you choose to get intoxicated, drunk, blitzed, plastered, wasted, toasted, smashed, or pissed. However, make sure you have a friend present to take on any applicable baby-sitting duties.
