You've probably heard from a friend or read the front page article in the Washington Post about the new Asia Trail and Giant Panda Habitat at the National Zoo.
The Asia Trail is a quarter-mile trail through six acres of elements designed to resemble the natural habitats of sloth bears, fishing cats, red pandas, Japanese giant salamanders, clouded leopards, Asian small-clawed otters, and giant pandas.
We'll meet up at the zoo entrance and take our time wandering through the Asia Trail and practice some photography, safari-style. Well, as safari-like as you can get in an urban zoo :) Of course, while we are at the zoo we can check out any other exhibits anyone is interested in.
For those who are new in town or haven't been, the National Zoo is accessible via the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan and Cleveland Park stations on the Red Line. It's about three blocks from either stop.
Yeah, it's probably going to be chilly, so bring a good jacket. If anything, the cooler weather will probably mean that there won't be a mad crush of tourists to get in our way :) Some coffee, tea, or hot chocolate might be in order afterwards (Foster Brothers Coffee at Cleveland Park has always been good to us). I will send out my cell phone number to whoever RSVPs Yes to this event so you can call if the weather looks iffy.
