"Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2006 features the winners of a competition organized by the Natural History Museum, London, and BBC Wildlife Magazine. The exhibition showcases the work of amateur and professional photographers from around the world. From scenes in a garden to creatures of the deep ocean, the images show the diversity of the plants and animals on Earth in a fresh and compelling way."
The photos are accompanied by comments from the photographer as well as a brief description of the camera body and lens used to capture the photo. If you're interested in checking out the exhibit with other camera/photography enthusiasts, come on out for an easy-going Sunday meetup. There's a Caribou Coffee down the street as well -- chances are we'll duck over there for people who want to chat after seeing the exhibit.
The closest Metro stops are Farragut North on the Red line and Farragut West or McPherson Square on the Orange/Blue lines. Detailed directions and a map are on the museum website.
I will send out my phone number to whoever RSVPs as Yes just in case you need to find us.
“ This exhibit should be a wake-up call for a lot of photographers. Find great locations, wait for the RIGHT moment, expand/contract your area of composition, experiment with slower (ISO100) film speeds for better color, restricting the amounts of color in a given shot to make the colors that ARE there stand out.
The people who showed were cool and had a serious interest in photography, there was a good mix of skill levels within the group and most everyone walked over a few blocks for a cup of coffee. ”
