Location: Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia
Date: Saturday, March 21 - 22, 2009
Our itinerary: Photography of historic Colonial Williamsburg.
**Updated 03/12/2009** The double bed rooms are no longer available. The only rooms remaining are single king size bed at $139 per night.
Join us for a weekend journey in to the past at Colonial Williamsburg. Photo ops will be aplenty and you can sharpen your photographic skills before the summer vacation. This will not be an exclusive camera to the face weekend. We’ll try to strike a balance so the trip is enjoyable too.
We’ll check in on Friday evening with an informal meet and greet. Start the tour at 8AM on Saturday and review our images Saturday night. Continue the tour Sunday morning and break when you desire. I will have a laptop with Adobe CS3 and Lightroom. Be mindful about security and what you bring. Bring good walking shoes.
You're welcome to join us just at anytime or depart at your comfort level. The overnight stay option offers a bit more comfort from the drive home after a day on your feet.
Admission: Tickets are required and admission for a Winter Two-Day Pass is $29.95. Admission is free if you stay at an official hotel.
Lodging:: After some research and reading reviews, the Woodlands Hotel & Suites look to be a safe choice. A no frill Marriott like hotel. The current available room is a king size bed at $139 per night. Here are some pictures and maps of the hotel in relation to the historic area. Its far from a Motel 6 and not a Ritz Carlton. The hotel is closed for the winter season until March 11. I have made my reservations online.
Here's the sales pitch from the hotel website.

Camera equipment: We’ll be on our feet most of the weekend so pack carefully. Bring enough memory! [I use to say, film!] Tripod? If you want to schlep it. Point & shoot cameras? Always welcomed!
Food: As with any excursions from home, please pack some snacks and pops to make things economical.
This itinerary is a work in progress. Please email me if you have any questions or start a discussion on the message board.
