I am a Python developer working at White Oak Technologies, Inc: a relatively small government contractor. I'm very interested in learning about interesting python packages, but would also like to contribute to core development in the near future.

Matt, I'd love to talk at the vim meetup, but I am traveling this tuesday -- next time I'd love to.
Thanks for the welcome, Matthew! I'm really looking forward to attending my first meeting. People think it's funny that in the 20 or so years of using Unix and Linux, I've never learned vi (Vim). :-)
Hey Matt! I'd be happy to tell people about NoVA-Vim at Arlington Ruby once I've been to a Vim meetup or two and have a feel for it. Looking forward to some vim golf.
Yea true. Most of the systems I work off of I have enough to install the latest vim and python2.6+ and my local is macvim so it gets all the goodies which is nice. It is tougher though to deal with older vim systems though. Could be a interesting talk about deploying vimrcs to mutiple servers.
I used a combination of :help write-plugin, learning vim script the hard way and looking at other peoples vim script examples. Espcially tpope and scoolooses plugins. Sometimes thought I would just end up writing straight python which probably isnt as nice as just vim script but for somethings I had too.
Welcome!
You should post some of the pictures, or else it didn't happen!
I did not see anyone send out a new mass email so I went ahead and did it.
