Generally agree with Fred here, but there is one case where this method fails compared to the more sophisticated IDEs (like Wing) and that is in debugging a remote process, particularly one started by a web server. Wing's ``import wingdbstub'' magic is very nice in that case.

After a couple of years working in Python, I still find print & pdb work
well.  They're available in just about every environment, so the time
