#1) Director/Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer (Hoboken, NJ and Brooklyn, NY)

The Director/Senior Ruby on Rails Developer will develop responsive and scalable websites and web applications using RoR and other open-source technologies. This person must have a strong knowledge of software architecture and design and extensive experience working with open-source projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Build websites and web applications using Ruby on Rails and other open-source platforms and technologies
•    Work independently while leveraging the contributions of others
•    Design efficient and maintainable databases. Optimize queries to use indices and key structure
•    Use source code management to track changes, create branches, and merge patches between stable and release branches
•    Participate in all stages of software development - from early brainstorming to coding and bug fixing
•    Write excellent, performant code and associated tests
•    Discuss product requirements with others, inside and outside of engineering

Qualifications

•    Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or related field
•    At least 5 years web application development experience using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL and other open source frameworks
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Experience building scalable internet applications
•    Experience building and maintaining content management systems
•    Creates well designed, reusable code on a reliable schedule
•    Understands the benefits of the various design methodologies, functional, and object oriented environments
•    Understands specific browser compatibility issues
•    Required technologies
o    Ruby on Rails
o    Apache
o    PostgreSQL & MySQL
o    Redhat / CentOS
o    Git & Subversion
•    Experience with these technologies is a plus
o    Mobile development experience
o    memcached
o    MongoDB
o    node.js

#2) CTO (Chief Technical Officer) Ruby Engineer (Worcester, MA)
 
My client offers a tremendous growth opportunity for a highly skilled, experienced Ruby on Rails software engineer/coder to be rapidly groomed and promoted to a CTO role or someone who can fill a CTO role immediately. They are a highly successful VC-funded startup in the Worcester, Massachusetts area which has achieved world-dominance in their industry and has successfully doubled market-share every year for the past three years.
 

They have retained me to recruit an aspiring CTO to build their engineering team, and to lead the technology development of their small company poised for "rocket-ride" growth, accessible to candidates in the Boston, MA /Metrowest area as well as Providence, RI.

What You’ll Be Doing:

             Leading the technical development of web applications serving up map-based, data heavy information products

             Solving challenging problems working with massive datasets that include crime statistics, schools, lifestyles, neighborhoods and more

#3)  Backend Ruby Engineer (Los Angeles):

My client is an energetic thriving startup changing the way international students find housing and strengthens the study abroad experience. The mission is to enhance the study abroad experience by helping international students find and book housing near their new school.

Currently, international students studying in the US do not have trusted resources that help them find quality housing or provide them with local information and networking opportunities. Schools lack adequate housing and current third party services are outdated, expensive, and offer limited choice.

My client offers a web and mobile platform that allows students to find housing from private renters or qualified homestay programs. Photos, profiles, reviews, and social features will help match students with hosts. A streamlined application process will expand choices and handle payments.

#4) Acquisition Manager (i.e. Marketing Role): (same company as #3)


Responsibilities -


Drive and scale customer acquisition through online channels including SEM, SEO, display, social, affiliate, email, mobile and content marketing.
Effectively partner with cross-functional teams (product management, engineering, support and sales) to drive successful end-to-end campaign definition, development and execution
Measure campaign effectiveness, return on ad spend, SEO and SEM performance, and channel and affiliate program ROI. Ensure overall Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) is profitable.
Manage acquisition funnel, media optimization, reporting, including A/B and multivariate testing, executing changes based on quantitative, actionable insight.
Grow and maintain reporting infrastructure, including performance tracking and forecasting. Hands-on analysis and manipulation of data to continuously improve conversion and ROI.
Identify and negotiate brand-appropriate performance-based online marketing partnerships and affiliate programs.
Work closely with web design team to create, manage and optimize landing pages tied to ad campaigns

Desired Skills & Experience-


Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Demonstrated focus on end-to-end customer experience, increasing the likelihood that prospects become customers and customers become advocates
Direct experience marketing via online channels including search marketing, display, retargeting, affiliate, mobile and social media networks.
Proven, successful track record of increasing user acquisition, engagement and retention for online audiences that meet/exceed revenue and profitability goals.
Expertise in performance conversion and analytics
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of end users and technical teams
Have experience of using web analytics software
Highly organized, critical thinker
2+ years experience in user acquisition.
