A level, 3.7 mile hike on Saturday, June 14 at 10 a.m. at Clopper Lake in Seneca Creek State Park on 11950 Clopper Road in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Everyone is welcome. Bring water for the walk and a lunch for a after the walk. There is a park entrance fee of $3 for Maryland residents and $5 for non-residents.
The hike on the lake shore trail is scenic and offers continuous views of the lake on woodlands and open field settings. Several streams are bridged and shore locations offer good opportunities for wildlife observations of waterfowl, herons, fish, and turtles.
For more information, contact Don via e-mail at [masked]. Directions: From Washington, Virginia, and points South, take Route 270 North towards Frederick. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles ahead on the left.
From Frederick, MD and points North, take Route 270 South towards Washington. Take Exit 11 (Route 124 West). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles ahead on the left.
