I'm sorry to say that Millie passed away on Sunday. Here's the message from our president that we sent out on dcslovaks:  (The SASW Picnic is held at her house)

"It is with great sadness that I am reporting the death of our dear friend and
matriarch of the Slovak American Society of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Millie
Schoepe Evans. Millie passed away early this morning at Fair Oaks Hospital
after a two-month struggle with congestive heart failure.

Millie had been in the hospital for about one month prior to her discharge to
home about one week ago. Funeral arrangements are still incomplete. As soon as
I receive additional information, I will pass it along.

Millie was a very proud Slovak-American who served the United States as a member
of the US Navy during World War II and with the CIA overseas and stateside. She
will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. God bless Millie and
may her memory be eternal."

There will be a service for Millie at St. Timothy's Parish, 13807 Poplar Tree Road, Chantilly, VA, on Saturday, August 24, at 10:00 AM.
