Then maybe the whole family could've come over and pay her back the money. My family has done that. But it is so out of the blue that Heidi felt like they were planning this for years.

I would criticize her for being close-minded too. DaNang and Vietnam is beautiful- get out of the sticks and go touring with your mom! Hue and Hoi An are right there. That region is among the best if you want to go sightseeing. Bun Bo Hue, Mi Quang, Cao Lo, Co'm Hen are all yummy specialties too.

Heidi had her reasons. And there really is no one wrong here. She never met these people and it was awkward about the money. As Vietnamese people we all know family or friends who sacrifice their entire lives for their family. This is not the case here in the states. As a military wife, she is probably poor too.

I wish they explained to her that her mom wanted to come to the states so they could start the sponsorship process.

That's exactly how I felt. Heidi, I kind of related to in the beginning. But at the end, I thought of her as very selfish, naive, and immature.

This is a good question/response to the Daughter from Da Nang documentary.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
