What are some of your favorite memories of Vietnam or anything related to Vietnam?

Having not been to Vietnam, I can only relate to simple things like food and ceremonies. It's a bit morbid but I actually like death anniversaries because it means my family gathers to burn sacrificial papers and cook food offerings (which we then get to afterwards).

What is your favorite vietnamese dish?

I really like bun chay and canh chua, cooked by my mom's very own hands.

Can you speak Vietnamese? If so, how well? Don't worry, we're willing to teach!

I can understand a lot of the basics but I can't verbalize them. I definitely want to learn.

What events are you interested in attending? e.g. dining out, volunteering, Viet language or literature study, etc.

I'm interested in volunteering, language study, films, whatever I can manage to fit in between studying.

Hello there! I just moved to DC over the summer for school. I'm studying International Relations at American University. I'm attempting to learn Chinese and Vietnamese, both of which my parents speak (I wish they would have taught me).
