Debates, Drinks, and Snacks at Thomas K's Apt Terrace

  • September 5, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • The Terrace at Thomas K's Apt.

This event is open to only those who have previously attended the NYC Debate meetup. Please contact me directly for the event location -- we'll be meeting at the outdoor terrace at my apartment building.

The RSVP is limited to fifteen attendees. I'll provide light snacks and drinks.

Proposed debate topics:

• NYC politics: who is your favorite mayoral candidate?

• Economy & public policy: should the Fed Reserve "taper" its bond-buying program?

• Internat'l affairs: should the U.S. intervene in Syria? (re-post from the April 2013 meetup)

• Education & public policy: is a college degree in Humanities studies still viable in the current job market?

• Environmental policy: to frack or not to frack -- is hydrofracking a sensible alternative to a sustainable energy policy?

Really interesting debate and great to hear everyone's perspective. Sorry I had to leave early and not hear it all. Thanks for hosting us Thomas!

Lively debate among friends. Many thanks to Thomas for organizing it and for the treats. I learned some things about the Mayor's race and I liked the rule of making the European Imperialists clean up the messes they left. Stephen Corbet would have us invade Chicago instead of Syria. http://on.cc.com/15DCdW3 :D
Here are some additional hilarious options on Syria from the Washington Post:
