Happy New Year!
To kick off the new year, we're debating how Meetup groups can operate more effectively to enhance the member experience.
Many of us invest plenty of time, effort, and energy into attending Meetups.
And more importantly, how can we improve the member experience?
We're all part of the Meetup community, so please share your thoughts and ideas in a debate format. We'll explore this topic by debating the following:
- Topic #1: Should Meetups operate in a more structured and formal manner? For instance, should there be an attendance or a membership fee? Also, should a chronic "no-show" member be subject to punitive measures?
- Topic #2: Would a higher level of commitment and participation by each member enhance the overall "success" of a group? Some assert that Meetup groups lack enthusiasm due to low commitment. If so, should the groups adopt a more selective enrollment process? Also, are smaller, tight-knit groups more successful and enjoyable than the larger groups?
Come join NYC Debate and we'll explore these topics in depth, in a fun and friendly setting.
Please be mindful that these debate topics are intended purely for intellectual stimulation and will have no binding effect on this group.
• 5:00 (pre-debate introductions) — as a Meetup member, how do you judge the success of a Meetup group? (i.e., attendance level, member commitment, member reviews, or something else?)
• 5:30 — Debate Topic #1
• 6:30 — Debate Topic #2
• 7:30 to 9:00 — Post-event social hour.
