The Future of the Rwandan Economy

Pre-registration for this event is paramount - entry will not be permitted for unregistered guests who arrive more than 15 minutes late - book your place here.

This is the final event of the Project Rwanda series - 4 events in 9 days to raise awareness of Debate Camp Rwanda 2013, a 10 day training programme for young Rwandans in public speaking and critical thinking, delivered jointly by CLDS and Idebate Rwanda.

This Thursday, we will be staging a panel debate in partnership with Morgan Stanley and the JCI (Junior Chamber International) on the different ways each of us can contribute to the recovery of the Rwandan economy as it emerges from the shadows of the 1994 genocide.

We will hear from the JCI, a global non-profit volunteer network, how individual Londoners are already volunteering their time and energy to make a difference in the developing world and how this can help Rwanda. We will hear from the commercial attache of the Rwandan embassy how Rwanda has progressed so fast in the 20 years since the genocide. We will also hear from a legal expert on the developing world how tax law reform is one of the most under-rated, yet invaluable tools at the disposal of the Rwandan government for securing its long term prosperity.

There is no charge for admission to this event, but a donation of £5 is recommended. All proceeds will go to Idebate Rwanda, a student led NGO promoting the value of debating in schools across east Africa.
