Impulse control / decision making / balancing relationships

Obviously procrastination and keeping career on track are huge issues, but have you also been struggling with being reliable in friendships, poor impulse control, and a tendency to make self-sabotaging choices? Any interest in discussing these? ...This topic has attracted 17 "Yes" RSVPs so far in a Chicago Meetup group whose mission involves decluttering, so I'm curious what response it might generate in Boston. Ideas for date and location are welcomed!

I have made a small start - baby steps. I am not around for a little while, as I have injured one of my knees.

    Hi Judy & all,

So last week after Judy left we talked about scheduling a meeting sometime in the next two weeks. So Saturday 1/19 or 1/26, please let me know what works better.

    Peace
    Sarah

Thanks Sarah- the group is for whatever its members want, concerning decluttering, personal change, and goal attainment- which certainly includes procrastination. Do catch up on your deadlines within the next few weeks, and I'll also make you an event host / assistant organizer to set up a meeting - at which we will look forward to hearing about your successes (or progress) in meeting the deadlines!

One more question, there was some question after you left about the group and the main intention. Is the group only for those looking to declutter? One of the gentlemen this afternoon was seeking a bent towards procrastination. I assumed we are tackling all personal growth and goal attainment issues but I could be wrong. If we are dealing with procrastination I would be willing to lead some skill shares on that ASAP. I'm behind in 3 deadlines and I'll try anything to distract including planning a procrastination skill share...

Thanks Judy and all the rest for a great meetup. We talked about having a follow up in two or three saturdays if people are interested. Judy if you can make me an event host I can arrange the dates.

    Peace and thank

Interesting points made, such as about how much time the Internet is consuming these days - time that people could be spending on processing stuff (including paper, of course) instead.

I mentioned that any of our Meetup's group members (including professional organizers and life coaches) can post "Suggested Meetup" ideas on our website (look for the special tab for this on our group's Home page), to gauge interest level in any topic relevant to this group's interests: just a few "Yes" RSVPs are needed for Meetup suggestions to become actual events, scheduled on the group's calendar. I am happy to make any of you an assistant organizer so you can try out event ideas to drum up interest in any topic you'd like to see addressed - in whatever venue you choose, anywhere around Boston, at any time that is most convenient for *you.* Your input is welcomed to better ensure that this group provides the help you are looking for.

May 2013 be the year we get our lives in order - enjoyably!

Hi Kathy, what venue would work best for you? Let us know- if My Thai in Boston is too inconvenient for you, we can switch the date from the monthly get-together lunch, too.

Ok, how about Life Alive on Mass Ave, or Andala Coffee House at 286 Franklin St in Central Square - for a lunch or dinner meeting on some Saturday other than the first Saturday of the month (which latter schedule I am hoping can be repeating events for our group)? And would you want to meet in November, December, or January? ...How about suggesting a few dates that will be possible for you, so we can get this meeting scheduled more certainly? Thanks!

I LOVE Life Alive (but IMO it's a bit cluttered). I'm going to be at Veggie Planet Saturday at noon, so I encourage folks to consider Veggie Planet, which is quiet, open-ended, and has great prices.

I can't get to Boston for your meetings. I live in Lowell. If you ever have any meetups closer to me please let me know. I'm about an hour from downtown Boston. Thanks.

Hi Judy, Topic sounds great. If possible, Cambridge often works better for me than Boston. Of course it depend a bit on location.
