Lecture Title: An Introduction to Horary Astrology
Speaker: Chris Brennan
Lecture Description
The basic premise of astrology is that there is a correspondence between celestial bodies and anything that is born or done at a specific moment in time. Natal astrology takes this principle and applies it to the event of the birth of an individual under the premise that the configuration of the planets at the moment of a person's birth have something significant to say about the nature and course of their life. Horary astrology takes this notion of temporal moments of origin and applies it in a more abstract sense to the birth of a question.
Horary astrology is the practice of determining the answer to a specific question through the examination and interpretation of a horoscopic chart cast for the moment that the question is posed to an astrologer. The theory is that since the question exists and is formulated and posed at a specific moment in time, then the answer must also exist at that moment and this answer is reflected by the alignment of certain celestial bodies in a horoscopic chart cast for that point in time. By following a very specific set of rules and adhering to the logic that is inherent in the system the answer to the question is sought to be derived primarily, if not exclusively, based upon the chart of the question itself.
The purpose of this lecture is to provide attendees with an introduction to this branch of the astrological tradition. In this lecture we will addresses the history and origins of horary, as well as the philosophical, theoretical and technical underpinnings of this application of astrology. Lecture attendees will walk away from the meeting with a strong foundation in the history, techniques and practice of horary astrology, and with a solid practical understanding of how to delineate horary charts on their own.
