This month's meeting will feature a special guest lecture by California-based astrologer Don Cerow, who will be giving a talk on his new book titled "When the Dragon Wore the Crown."
"When the Dragon Wore the Crown" focuses primarily on the role of the constellation Draco, the astronomical marker of the North Celestial Pole for thousands of years. This simple observation authored the Astrological Ages as well as helped to facilitate the study of the calendar, navigation, farming, and social organization. The secret of the circle was hidden in its center. If the center was not accurately determined, the entire circle was off. This presentation follows the mythology of various cultures as they evolved into modern astronomy.
About Don Cerow
Teaching since ‘72, Don is a certified NCGR Level IV astrologer and published author who received a degree in Classics, Magna cum Laude from UMass in ‘76, has been writing a weekly column (AthenasWeb.com) for various newspapers since ‘83 and in 2003 reconstructed an early model of Stonehenge Phase 1 on a winery in a story carried by the New York Times. He has produced shows for radio and television, taught at colleges, universities and planetariums across the country and was a featured speaker at CPAK, the Conference for Precession and Ancient Knowledge in 2012.
Length of the Meeting
The meeting will start at 3:00 PM, and the lecture itself will probably go until about 4:30, with time for questions and discussions until about 5:00 PM. After that people are free to hang out and socialize in the cafe.
Note that the Mercury Cafe also serves brunch earlier in the day, so if anyone wants to come early, around 1:00 or so, there will probably be some other astrologers there having brunch.
The fee for attending the lecture is $10.
If you can find a spot to park on the street then it is free, although there is a two hour limit on some spots. There is also a parking lot right across from the Mercury Cafe on the other side of California Street that only charges $1 for parking on weekends.
Just a reminder that the Denver Astrology Group now has a small library, and you can check books out from it at each meeting.
It is only $10 a year to sign up for the library, and you can check out 1 book at each meeting, and then you will have to return it at the next meeting the following month.
See our website for a complete catalog of all of the books currently available in the library: http://www.denverastrologygroup.com/library/holdings/
If you would like us to bring a book to the meeting for you to check out then just send an email to Chris at: [masked]
We will also be bringing a box of some of the best books from the library with us to the meeting, for those of you who would like to browse through them in person.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting!
