Studying the Rulers of Houses with the Morinus Approach

At this month's meeting group member Paula Roosa will be leading a discussion on looking at the rulers of the houses in order to study different topics in a person's life, with a special focus on the approach outlined by the 17th century astrologer Morin de Villefranche.

Chris and Leisa will be attending a wedding, but we will resume our series on the planets next month, at the July meeting.

Description of the June Meetup from Paula

Jean Baptiste Morin de Villefranche (1583 - 1656) was a mathematician, physician, and astrologer who advised the notables of Paris. His principle work, the 26 volume "Astrologia Gallica", was written over a period of thirty years. More well-known in Europe, his master work has been translated into Englsh in more recent times.

Writing under the Latin name Morinus, he set forth a concrete method of synthesizing a horoscope by defining the events, circumstances and experiences a person will encounter during their life. For example, will I have money, do I have powerful friends or friends who betray me, a love affair or children that interfere with partnership, travel that brings a marriage, etc. Morin's Theory of Determinations enables you to judge how a planet will act
in a given horoscope and if it will produce benefits or adversities.

I have just discovered Morin's method and am pretty enthusiastic - I think you will be too! Handouts will be provided showing some of the basic examples of his method to get started with. Using what we learn, we'll look at how the planets played out in Whitney Houston's chart. Then, hopefully, there will be time to see how Morin's method works for you so bring your own chart!

Knowing the signs, planet rulerships, planets in exaltation or fall, and house meanings will help you get the most out it.

Please RSVP if you plan to attend so that I can bring enough handouts.

Meeting Fee

There is no fee for the meeting, although donations of 3 to 5 dollars are appreciated, as they help to cover the costs associated with making handouts and hosting our page on Any additional money collected will go towards hosting future speakers.

Paula did a great job of explaining the origin of the Morinus Approach and the materials available for us to do our own research on it.
The discussion was lively and interesting and it session was a total success!

I had expected more of a discussion on the house system rather than interpretation of houses, but still worth my time.
