What: November Astrology Meeting: Saturn Returns and Uranus Oppositions

This month's meeting will be focused on a group discussion about two events that happen at regular times during the life cycle, the Saturn return and the Uranus opposition.

The Saturn return, which happens at ages 28-30 and again at 58-60, is a time of reality testing. Oftentimes important elements of life either come to a peak or end, and it is a time of greater seriousness about life structures.

The Uranus opposition, which happens around age 42, is a time when one's freedom and authenticity needs come to the forefront. People often break out of situations which feel confining to do something completely new, or unexpected events occur in their lives.

These two transits are spoken about often in astrological circles, but this meeting will offer a chance to look in greater depth at our own charts to see how the details express themselves. What turning points did we come to during these times, and how were our lives different afterwards?

This meeting will be accessible for those newer to astrology, but those more experienced will also benefit from a more detailed look at the effects of house rulership, sect, and aspects. We will focus on using our own charts to ground and test what we know about the Saturn return and Uranus opposition in real life terms.

If you feel comfortable sharing your chart, please send a copy of the chart along with the data to Leisa at lschaim@gmail.com, and I will make photocopies to bring to the meeting. We will start the meeting with some general introductory information about these transits, and then progress to looking at chart examples from group members and discussing them.

Attendees will get the most out of the meeting if they look up the dates of their transits ahead of time and reflect on what events took place in their lives at those times. Although not required, everyone will be encouraged to share their experiences of those transits during the course of the discussion. It would also be useful for attendees to bring an ephemeris to the meeting if you have one (20th and 21st century), in order to look at transit dates for the charts being discussed. If you are newer to astrology and have any questions about when those transits occurred for you, please feel free to email me and I can help you look them up.

There is no fee for the meeting, although donations of 3 to 5 dollars are appreciated, as they help to cover the $20 a month fee for hosting this page on Meetup.com. Any additional money collected will go towards future speakers.
