The Denver Astrology Group Message Board › Mercury exalted in Aquarius?

I am reading a book called The Manual of Astrology by Sepharial.
On page 17 he lists Mercury exaltation is Aquarius, and thus Mercury and Saturn are friendly towards each other, while Mercury and Jupiter are not because Sagittarius is the fall of Mercury. This is intriguing to me, because I can see that Saturn would bring focus and direction to the mental activities of Mercury. Aquarius is a sign that is good with big picture, forward thinking. To me, Mercury in Aquarius would be beneficial for that type of mental activity. What do others think about this? Alyssa AnaMaria |

Sounds like author's theory is from the position that Saturn rules Aquarius but most would say Aquarius is co-ruled by Uranus. Whether Saturn is beneficial to Mercury would very much depend on Saturn's sign position and aspect to Mercury. ie: Good aspect would promote ability to focus, mental disipline & ability to organize & prioritize thoughts. difficult aspects: overly critical and negative. The same would be true with Mercury aspecting Jupiter, there can be a positive or a negative manifestation. Mercury supposedly is not compatible with Sagittarius comes from the fact that Sagittarius is fire and Mercury is air. Without considering aspects or other variables, I have found that Mercury in Sagittarius makes one very talkative and sometimes given to exagerate. Mercury does do very well in Aquarius, both are air, providing there is some mental disipline and structure.
