The Secular Hub’s Community Service Committee will be holding a school-supply drive during July and August to benefit the students of Wyatt Academy, a K-8 school in the Denver Public Schools system – located just blocks from the Hub. Approximately 95% of Wyatt Academy students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, which gives the Hub, and our secular community as a whole, an excellent opportunity to provide materials to local students who may otherwise do without them. The Community Service Committee will be collecting donations at the Hub, as well as at selected secular events held in the Denver area during these two months. Below is a list of items that are needed for the school’s middle-school students/scholars (they have requested that we focus on their older students for our drive).
Student supply needs:
Large eraser (1)
Pencil sharpener (1)
Box of pencils (2)
Box/package of pens; black or blue (2)

Yellow highlighters (4)

All of us in the secular community understand the importance of education. And while school supplies may not be a critical factor in determining a student’s level of success, not having adequate supplies puts a student at a disadvantage from the start.
With a successful school-supply drive, we can have an immediate and direct, positive impact on the educational experience of Wyatt Academy students. Please consider helping as much as you can – whether you donate a single notebook, or everything listed above to cover one student’s needs – it all helps.
To donate, please look for the clear, plastic bin(s) near the Community Service display/table.
p.s. We know that not everyone can easily get to the Hub. If you have any suggestions on other locations/times that would make donating easier, please let us know so we can consider all options.
