What factors influenced you to emerge as a non-believer in a believing society?

I am very logical and therefore I am not persuaded by illogical reasoning. Plus I feel the ignorance or bigotry promoted by certain religions detriments social welfare.

What do you hope to get out of this group?

It would be nice to be able to meet other atheists as I have never really attended such a group, though I am not certain when I am going to be able to join (I work Fri - Mon 5pm - 5am). It would be nice to share ideas as that is why I write (the first book is on utilitarianism - i.e. the greatest good for the greatest number).

What do you feel you can offer the group?

Well... as I said, I am not sure when I can attend. But I can provide intellectual fodder if desired. My ideas on utilitarianism and religion in general are unique. (Sidenote - I actually define myself as a utilitarianist as a belief in the greatest good for the greatest number is a description of what one believes in, whereas atheism is a description of what one doesn't believe in.)

Introduction

I have recently moved to Colorado after working in New England as an outdoor educator. I am currently working as a security guard. I often write during my free time and I am currently working on two books.
