What factors influenced you to emerge as a non-believer in a believing society?

I was raised by people who called themselves Catholics but didn't "live" their religion. The hypocrisy upset and confused me, so I became educating myself on the Christian religion (and others). Hence, unbelief.

What do you hope to get out of this group?

My husband and I tend to associate with people who have certain morals and values. But those people tend to be uber-religious, and they peace out on us when they find out we're atheists. We're tired of that. We need friends.

What do you feel you can offer the group?

I'm not sure. We're always up for coffee and conversation (and bowling!), but we're still pretty new to all of this. But hey - at least I'm honest!

I have to introduce myself? Aw, crap... I'm 23, my husband is 38. We have a 3 year old son, and we are just looking to meet new people... hopefully people who are unbelievers and still manage to not be complete hedonists. They exist... right?
