As I look back to my childhood I remember being comforted by empirical information and confused by belief in anything that wasn't supported by evidence. This really never changed over the years, but I was occasionally drawn in by believers I respected or liked as people. Recently, watching Richard Dawkins and others speak has been very influential is solidifying my thinking.
Interaction with intelligent people who think similarly about life and the cosmos.
I'm not sure, at this time.
I've periodically tried to be a believer, mostly before age 40. But, I was always a skeptic. At this point I can find no merrit for me in supernatural belief.
Always a pleasure, "to get the word...of science"
