My inclination to be a contrarian (usually just for the hell/purgatory of it) got me to the edge, then a huge shove from the radical religious fundies motivated me to make the big leap.
Despite what my history of meetup participation would suggest, I see the group as a means to meet and (at least ocassionally) interact with like-minded freethinkers - I'm always hoping some of the intellectual brilliance in the community will rub off on me. I also very much appreciate that I can count on the group to disseminate information about events/presentations/lectures that are more often than not very stimulating and entertaining (e.g. Sam Harris at CU, Sean Carroll at the museum, etc.).
Hmmm... I'll be sure to post something when I figure that out.
A generally mild-mannered, live-and-let-live atheist... but militant to the degree believers try to restrict my intellectual freedom - particularly when it comes to government involvement with religion.
