The process of earning my philosophy degree resulted in my heathenization. Part of doing philosophy with intellectual honesty means evaluating beliefs and justifying those beliefs. Eventually I realized that I had no good reasons for my beliefs in God, so I had to abandon my Christianity. Then, once I took another look at the problem of evil without a predisposition, I realized it probably can't be solved. Specifically, J.L. Mackie's treatment of the Free Will Defense showed me that religious claims, especially Catholic claims, about a god probably can't be true. So, now I'm "out" as an atheist. And sometimes it's fun to see Christians get their feathers ruffled by that word.
I've never lived OUTSIDE some kind of religious community, and I really need to find a group of people who don't find my non-belief threatening.
Philosophy is one of my favorite things to do! Hopefully I can add to the conversation and fun.
