What factors influenced you to emerge as a non-believer in a believing society?

My exposure to science in middle and high school - especially my genetics class - really gave me answers to questions I had. I didn't grow up in a religious household, but went to a catholic church many times with a friend as a kid. Every time we went, I definitely didn't understand what the big deal was, and never felt like I belonged. Evolution and all things science really made sense to me, and I am thankful for those science teachers during my early education.

What do you hope to get out of this group?

Just want to meet people where I don't have to worry about saying something offensive or have to defend my beliefs.

What do you feel you can offer the group?

I'm an environmental scientist and have been an atheist for most of my life. I've dabbled in paganism, but in a worship the earth, the life living on it, and the sun that provides the energy for us all kind of way.
