I grew up In Texas in a religious family and community. From the age of 13 or so Christianity never really made sense to me after reading the bible several times due to its philosophical, logical, and moral contradictions. Since I was a young teen I have not considered myself religious. I really came to my atheist viewpoints as an adult when I began studying biology in college.

I have studied evolution pretty extensively and the thesis for my last degree was on the evolution of the nervous system from the Australopithecines to Homo sapiens, with a specific focus on the evolution of genes that control nervous system function during this time. I am always happy to talk about my background in evolutionary biology, neuroscience, and/or medicine.
My previous degree was in neuroscience but I decided I did not want to go to med school or work in a lab for the rest of my life so I went back to school for nursing and graduate this May. I am also an EMT and work in EMS and intensive care.
