About Alexander Valley Vineyards "Appellation": Established in 1984, the Alexander Valley is one of Sonoma County's most distinguished wine-growing regions or AVAs (American Viticultural Areas). Situated in the northeastern corner of Sonoma County, the Alexander Valley runs 22 miles long and averages about 4 miles wide, effectively hosting 15,000 acres of quality grapes   http://www.avvwine.com/

Alexander Valley Vineyards produces 100,000 cases annually, 17 varietal wines and proprietary blends. Seventy-five percent of AVV’s production is red wine. Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon constitute roughly half of total production. Other varietals include Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Gewurztraminer, Syrah, Sangiovese, Viognier, and Cabernet Franc.

CYRUS, a limited production, proprietary red wine, named in honor of the pioneer Cyrus Alexander, is AVV’s benchmark, honoring the past while signaling the future. Hank Wetzel explains, “Cyrus is a statement, our ultimate achievement. With this wine, we express our history, tradition, and excellence.”

About our events: Denver Wine Meetup/UncorkedDenver.com events are a unique opportunity to socialize with other young/mid professionals and make new friends over at a wine and food pairing, with select wines paired with appetizers, sometimes with the winemaker visiting.

Our events differ from the many "happy hours" in a bar groups around Denver and high priced wine organizations, distributor/ festival type events as the events are a wine social with the opportunity to meet a winemaker or wine manager and focus on learning about a winery and/or a varietal.  Our events provide members a unique wine and culinary pairing event with the aspect of a social mixer at an affordable price.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

June 8   Grapes and Hops at the Denver Botanical Gardens.    Enjoy savory light bites from more than 20 local restaurants, unlimited wine & beer samples, and entertainment by DELLA and We Were Cosmonauts. Purchase a VIP ticket and miss the crowds with early admission to the party, then stay late for our swanky After Party, where things really heat up! You’ll get a secret password to whisper for entrance to our 1920s speakeasy, where you’ll find a live jazz trio, signature cocktails and more! It will be the talk of the town on Saturday. For more info and tickets, visit http://www.botanicgardens.org/events-exhibits/special-events/garden-grapes-and-hops today!

For those of you who want to know, I have attended twice.   This is a young event... a lot of 20's and 30's some 40's.  Top restaurants in Denver, lots of Brew pubs and a handful of lower end wines from Barefoot and Zonin with tickets between $55-$100.   There will be 600+ attending.....don't go expecting to meet people, it's not like our events.  Bring a group of friends and stick together, you'll wander from tent to tent for nibbles of food and enjoy the Botanical Gardens

Saturday July 21, 2012  Yes, a SATURDAY NIGHT WINE PARTY! We will be downtown with an Australian Wine Company owner with highly rated wines from the west end of Australia at one of Denver's top new venues.  So mark your calendar...this will probably be our only weekend event other than our pre-holiday party in November.

The Colorado Urban Wine Festival is on June 9.   Our group has had little interest in Colorado Wines but wanted to mention it for those of you who want to try Colorado wines.

About UncorkedDenver.com/Denver Wine Meetup

This is monthly event is a WINE SOCIAL mixer and wine education event for young to mid professionals (20's to 40's give a year or two).   Our group was modeled after the Wine Brats® , a wine social mixer for young professionals to learn about wine with their peers in many US cities which shut down a few years ago. Our purpose is to provide a wine and food pairing with a social mixer for the young to mid professionals demographic to mingle with their peers while they learn about new wines. This has always been the purpose of the group and stated on the sign up page for our group.   This group is NOT a "business networking" group.

Business Networking and Pitching Members Although there are a lot of business networking groups on the meetup system, our monthly wine tasting event is NOT a business networking event. Our members attend to "relax" and enjoy a glass of wine and make new friends. Our members are NOT interested in being "pitched" your skin care, real estate, jewelry, financial advising, and other items. They are turned off by folks coming around to them with business cards looking to sell them anything. I do understand folks ask what you do for a living as a conversation item. If your main purpose in attending is to drum up business, please find a business networking group. Please do not pitch me by email or in person to promote your business.

Please come to enjoy the wine, meet the winemaker and make new friends. If you are hit up by an attendee going around the room "pitching" please report it to me. With that said, I will be launching a group in the near future that will be for "business networking".   I appreciate everyone's understanding and it's not my intention to offend anyone or hurt anyone's feelings.
