This is probably the second most popular peak in RMNP (after Longs Peak). This peak is located on the Continental Divide, so great views all around. The pace will be from 2.5 to 3 mph so this is for experienced hikers only.
Starting Elevation: 9475'
Elevation at peak: 12,713'
Elevation Gain: +3,238' net elevation gain (+3,375' total roundtrip elevation gain)
Difficulty: Moderately Strenuous
Distance: 10 miles round trip.
Weather is unpredictable at these elevations, be prepared for anything.
We will meet at the park-n-ride at 88th and Sheridan at 7:00. I expect to be at the north end of the lot. Look for my red SUV. We will carpool to the free shuttle parking lot in RMNP (across from Glacier Basin) and ride the shuttle to the Bear Lake trailhead. Those persons up north can meet us at the shuttle lot around 8:30--just be sure to let me know if you do not intend to meet at the carpool location. The free shuttle is inside RMNP, so someone from each vehicle will need to have a park pass.
Additional Terms and Conditions
You are responsible for knowing where the carpool location and the trailhead are and getting there on time. You are responsible for researching the trail and knowing your own limits. You are responsible for dressing appropriately and bringing the necessary gear, water and snacks. This trip--as are all trips with this group unless otherwise noted--is an all day outing, do not sign up if you have other obligations that afternoon. The pace will be on the faster side, and everyone is expected to keep up; you will need to be in good shape to do this trip. It is considered poor etiquette to cancel at the last minute; any cancellation within 24 hours of the start of this meetup for any reason will be treated as a no-show.
This is a participate at your own risk event.
