Let's hike part of the Beaver Brook Trail, starting at the Genesee side of Beaver Brook and hike to the start of the Chavez nature trail and do the loop. This trail is a hidden treasure in its proximity to Denver, varied scenery, with relatively few people who actually hike it.
I believe this is only about 3 miles so we may add a mile or so on the Beaver Brook trail before we start the nature loop. That should get us about 4 miles total with a decent amount of elevation gain.
An interesting hike, with only minimal chances of getting significantly lost.
Beginners are welcome on this hike since we have short mileage and curfew in DMP's doesn't start until 11PM. But please be fast enough to keep up a 2 mph pace. However, note that we start off going downhill, and end up going uphill.
We will meet at 5 and begin hiking at 5:15-ish.
I suggest that, in addition to normal hiking gear, people bring a snack for when we get to the creek, wet weather gear and a flashlight, just in case. Some creek hopping required. Hiking poles may be desired on the trek back up the hill.
Directions to trailhead: Take I-70 to Exit 253 (Chief Hosa Exit), if you take the exit from I-70 W you'll see a dirt road (Stapleton Rd) on your right take that road and it takes you about 1.1 miles to the trailhead.
