Lion and Snowbank Lakes
This trail, in a remote section of RMNP, passes several beautiful lakes and waterfalls, and is well worth the effort. This is a long hike, so we will be starting early and traveling moderately fast, so this is for experienced hikers only.
Starting Elevation: 8,500'
Elevation at Snowbank Lake: 11,512'
Elevation Gain: 3,012'
Difficulty: Moderately Difficult.
Distance: 15.4 Miles round trip.
Weather is unpredictable at these elevations, be prepared for anything.
We will meet at the park-n-ride at 88th and Sheridan at 6:00. I expect to be at the north end of the lot. Look for my red SUV. We will carpool to the Wild Basin trailhead. Bring cash for drivers for gas.
We want to be here by 7:30. Take U.S. 36 through Boulder to Lyons. Go through Lyons and turn left on Highway 7. Take curvy, slow highway 7 about 20 miles to the Wild Basin entrance Turn left and follow the road to the end. (There is an entrance fee station here and this becomes a dirt road that is fine for passenger cars)
