Chasm Lake Trail Snowshoe (RMNP)

Chasm Lake Trail - Rocky Mtn Natl Park

It is likely that we will not go all the way to Chasm Lake because of avalanche danger beyond a certain point, but will go on the Longs Peak trail as far as the Chasm Lake trail junction and as far down the Chasm Lake trail as possible, likely will stop above Peacock Pool--probably about 6 miles round trip. There are some incredible views to be seen here. This trip is not recommended for beginners. There is no fee for this part of the park. Weather at these elevations is unpredictable, dress in layers and be prepared for any weather conditions. A large part of the trail is above treeline and exposed to wind. Snowshoes are required. In addition, it is recommended that you bring micro-spikes, poles, gaitors and a camera.

Additional Terms and Conditions

You are responsible for knowing where the carpool location and the trailhead are and getting there on time. You are responsible for researching the trail and knowing your own limits. You are responsible for dressing appropriately and bringing the necessary gear, water and snacks. This trip--as are all trips with this group unless otherwise noted--is an all day outing, do not sign up if you have other obligations that afternoon. The pace will be moderately fast, as are all of my more difficult trips, do not sign up if you have been on other outings in which the group has had to wait for you. It is bad etiquette to cancel at the last minute, cancellations within 24 hours of the start of this meetup will be treated as a no-show.
