Join us for a pick your distance hike at Centennial Cone Park near Golden. Go as short as 2.3 miles or up to 7-8 miles roundtrip depending on your speed. (If you really want a challenge, carpool with the right people and try the whole 11 or so mile loop.) Park map.
(Right now we have about 4 people interested in the short distance and most interested in the 7-8 mile option.)
Here's the plan:
10:05am: Carpoolers meet at 10:05am (leave 10:15am) at the intersection of Highway 93 and Golden Gate Canyon Road in Golden. It's a 10 mile drive to the trailhead on curvy mountain roads. (please give carpool drivers $3 each for gas.)
10:45am(ish) arrive at trailhead, meet non-carpoolers.Google 4306 Camino Perdido, Golden 80403 for directions.
11am: Hike starts on Travois Trail. Slower hikers (or just those wanting a short distance) should plan to do the Travois Trail to the Evening Sun loop, have lunch somewhere there and return for a 2.3 mile hike. The fast gang should plan to hike as far as they can for 90 minutes (til 12:30), have lunch for 30 minutes and hike back, returning at 2:30pm to the trailhead.
Let's try to carpool back at 2:30.
No dogs please
