Thanksgiving Snowshoe and Lunch/Dinner (Dillon)

For those of you without family in town how about spending Thanksgiving with your Trailheads family? The plan is to carpool down to the Dillon area for a snowshoeing event followed by a traditional Thanksgiving Lunch/Dinner at the Pug Ryans Steakhouse and Brewery in Dillon. Spending the night in Dillon and/or going on another snowshoeing trip on Friday is also an option. When RSVPing, let me know if you are interested in spending the night there and/or snowshoeing on Friday. We will tentatively snowshoe Mayflower Gulch on Thursday and Herman Gulch on Friday. These are both incredibly beautiful trails in winter, and easy enough for beginners in good condition. If you happen to be in the area, it is also an option just to meet us for the meal. No dogs on this trip.

Have extra cash for drivers as well. If you wish to spend the night you must make your own arrangements. If you are looking for someone to share a room with or know of a good deal on a cabin, etc, you can post a note on this page. For those of you who do not have snowshoes, you will need to get them before the trip. You can rent them at most of the sports specialty stores around Denver. You should intend to bring micro-spikes as well since the trails may have ice instead of snow. The plan is to have the meal around 4:00PM at Pug Ryan's. The meal will probably be in the $18-$20 range (they will be serving their entire menu, not just turkey); be sure to firm up your plans and let me know definitely if you intend to come since I have to make reservations a reasonable amount of time in advance. Bring enough cash for the meal and drinks and plan on 25% extra for tax and tip. They do accept credit cards but they like to have four or more people per ticket.

I'm sorry for the last minute cancellation. I don't own micro-spikes.

I was really looking forward to this but have now lost my voice. Sorry for the late cancellation.

The trip is on, and I hope you are all looking forward to it. I have no idea how much snow there will be, probably not much new snow, so micro-spikes may be more important than snowshoes - I will be bringing both just in case. If you have never been to the woolly mammoth lot, it is large, so remember we will be meeting across from the gas station. There is a sign that says BB, we will meet there. Be sure to be on time to ensure you don't get left. Everyone should print out the directions above, even if you don't intend to drive because you may wind up being the navigator.

Hey Heather, I have been checking the weather and it does not appear there is much snow up there. Anyway, I have been sick for over a week, but am still hoping to go tomorrow. I just wanted you to have a heads up in case I cant go but you still want snowshoes.

There is no need to make carpool arrangements at this time, we will take care of that when we meet at the lot. Any number of things could change between then and now, best to leave these details till them.
On another subject, for those of you who didn't mention on your RSVP whther you are interested in one day or both days, and whether you are interested in lunch/dinner, it would help if you did that. It is far better to mention these things in your RSVP instead of posting comments, that way everyone doesn't get a dozen emails; also, I don't need to read every comment to get a count.
