Pretty darn good
Hiking snowshoeing. I'm not much if a camper
Hi Jeannie. Welcome to Birding and Beers! It was great to meet you last night at Bluff Lake.
hey jeannie, sorry you didnt finish the ride yesterday! the first 9 miles are a little tough but after that was mostly downhill and flat. when i went back to find you guys Ed told me you had already left (probably 3 miles from the top) I tried to look for you but it was too late! I hope you had a good day but I wish you would have stayed with us. once again I apologize!
"Your" ride has become quite popular. With just two rides it looks like we're building a group of regulars. Now you know the route to Golden. You could lead the ride again and add Lookout one of the weekends I can't ride. Good luck on your 65 mile ride. Key to pushing out is to stay ahead of your nutrition - about 200-300 cals/hour. Take a Tums if you start to cramp. If you bonk a Mountain Dew will jump start you again with lots of sugar and caffeine. Hope you don't mind the advice.
I'm interested in weekend rides. There are plenty depending on what you want to do. I live in the foothills so you are welcome to come up here if you want an extra challenge. Contact me at: [masked]
Jeannie...there are lots of loops around Morrison. You can park at C-47 & Morrison road and ride through town to Red Rocks or up the front of the Hogback over Dinosaur Ridge. Rooney Road and Highway 40 loop back to Morrison. It's a great place to work on hill climbing and you just keep adding loops until you get the miles you want. I am out there every weekend that I am not riding a century, year-round
Glad you joined, Jeannie. Thanks!
Sorry to hear that. We hung around until about 1:40 before departing. I was almost late too. Got on I25 heading north near Louisiana & realized that was a bad idea, so I took Santa Fe up to Speer and made it with only 2-3 minutes to spare. The guys that did show really put a hurting on me though. We hit the average speed, but with all the slowing down from other rec path users it was more like sprint intervals... slow down to like 10mph, sprint to 23mph, slowly come back down towards 20, repeat
