WILD SWANS Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang is a memoir of three generations in twentieth-century China.   Chang, who was born in China, describes the life of her grandmother, a warlord's concubine, her mother's struggles as a young idealistic Communist and her parents' life in the Communist elite during the Cultural Revolution.

"It's a story...about the survival of a Chinese family through a century of disaster." -The New Yorker

I won't be able to attend but have read this book (some time ago) and found it well worth reading; I'm sure it merits discussion.

I'm buying my ticket today for Evil Companion Ron Hansen's presentation at the Oxford April 11, next Thursday evening (after great hors d'oeuvres and a glass of the evening's signature cocktail, which I may have had a role in naming). Details

Please let me know if you plan to join the fun. I think this is one of the best literary events in Denver, after our CBA Finalist and Winner readings! All best,

Doesn't look like I will be making this April meeting after all. Be out of town (actually state) April 24 - May 1. Oh Boo Hoo - this would have been a great discussion. Reading the book anyway.
